SAMPLE POEM

On Going Mad

You want to know what drove me mad?
Ah, yes, I know quite well. To tell or not to tell:
that is the question.

Others would say do not speak of it, pretend

it never happened, fake it and you'll make it.

I will tell you what I tell myself nights
I can't sleep, can't think, and mornings

I can't stop thinking, can't stay awake.

But, first, forgive me as I talk to myself sometimes.
It calms me, peps me up, evens me out, leaves
nothing but sunny faith—

and dark doubt
